Steve Jobs impacted my life.  Its crazy to put it that way especially considering I didnt know him personally.  When I was three years old my dad walked into our house with a big Apple box.  Whats that dad? I asked (perhaps thinking it was a box of apples).  Its a Macintosh he responded.  Whats it do dad. Watch  he says.  He turned it on and the rest was history.    From that day on, Ive never been without an Apple product.   (It was 1984 and dad brought home the original Macintosh).

And so it seems that much of Steve Jobs professional accomplishments could be summed up with the same word:  Watch.  All it takes is watching the product and you know it will somehow change your life and that somehow youll find a way to get it.

Ive posted a few links and a great youtube video below.  The links are different peoples tribute to Steve Jobs.  Though the video was to be apart of the Think Different campaign it seems more autobiographical.  Its a must see.

One of the best tributes on Jobs from President Obama (posted on 9 to 5 Mac blog):

Michelle and I are saddened to learn of the passing of Steve Jobs. Steve was among the greatest of American innovators – brave enough to think differently, bold enough to believe he could change the world, and talented enough to do it.

By building one of the planet’s most successful companies from his garage, he exemplified the spirit of American ingenuity. By making computers personal and putting the internet in our pockets, he made the information revolution not only accessible, but intuitive and fun. And by turning his talents to storytelling, he has brought joy to millions of children and grownups alike. Steve was fond of saying that he lived every day like it was his last. Because he did, he transformed our lives, redefined entire industries, and achieved one of the rarest feats in human history: he changed the way each of us sees the world.

The world has lost a visionary. And there may be no greater tribute to Steve’s success than the fact that much of the world learned of his passing on a device he invented. Michelle and I send our thoughts and prayers to Steve’s wife Laurene, his family, and all those who loved him.

Another couple tributes worth reading (found on the Cult of Mac blog):

Daring Fireball blogger John Gruber:

So it goes. So it goes. Damn it. I thought the “That day has come” line in his resignation letter implied the end was near, but, truth be told, I never gave up hope that Steve would beat this again. What a life.

The Economist’s obituary:

But in the end he changed reality, channelling the magic of computing into products that reshaped music, telecoms and media. The man who said in his youth that he wanted to “put a ding in the universe” did just that.
