The Hillsborough Board of Education named Kevin Carty Jr. as its high schools new football coach at its regular meeting Monday night.
Carty spent the last five years at Bound Brook, restoring respectability to the Crusaders program. Carty teams were 34-17, qualifying for the CJ Group I playoffs in 2006, 2007 and 2008. Before Cartys arrival, Bound Brooks last trip to the playoffs had been in 1978.
Carty would take over for outgoing Raidre coach Vin Coviello, whose team finished 6-4 last year. The Raiders were 20-30 in Coviellos term.
Bound Brook longtime assistant coach and Carty defensive coordinator Dom Longo will take over as head coach of the Crusaders.
